Father-son duo found guilty of murdering neighbour

A 74-year-old man and his son were found guilty of killing one of their neighbours using clubs and swords and stabbing him with an iron spike in the year 2004.

The Panadura Provincial High Court Judge who concluded the lengthy trial found the two accused guilty of murder and passed the death sentence on each of the accused.

The accused Ukwattage Don Tillekeratne alias Kaduru Lokka and his son

Ukwattage Don Pushpaumara of Poruwadanda were indicted by the Attorney General with committing the murder of S Jayasiri of Proruwadanda in the Horana police area over fourteen years ago.he had died at the Horana hospital within hours of admission.

Delivering the sentence the judge held that the prosecution had proved its case against the accused beyond reasonable doubt.

State Counsel Jayani Wegodapola prosecuted while the Horana police led evidence for the State.
