Govt. buildings used as polling centres in H’tota need repairs
There are about 88 public buildings that had been used as voting centres in the Hambantota district which are in a dilapidated state due to various reasons and need to be repaired in due course, Hambantota Additional District Secretary Suneth Lochana said.
Pre-schools, community centres and Dhamma halls in temples are also used as voting centres in some electorates.
He said at a coordinating committee meeting recently that more than Rs. 14 million had been estimated for repairing the centres so that the voters can reach these areas safely specially the differently-abled people to cast their votes.
These type of centres are found in the electorates such as Tangalle, Mulgirigala, Beliatta and, Tissamaharama in the Hambantota district, according to the district secretary.
