Royal Old Boys win Nihal Nilaweera hockey Trophy

Royal Old Boys defeated and their traditional rivals S. Thomas 2-0 to win the Nihal Nilaweera Challenge Trophy in their annual hockey fixture at the Astro turf. At half time neither side had scored.

After the turn around, in the 25th minute, the Royalists were awarded a corner and Palul Hallaj put the finishing touches to give the Old Royalists the first goal.

Four minutes later, the Old Royalists were awarded another corner and this time it a was S. Kathubdeem who did the scoring to seal a 2-0 win for the old Royalists and take possession of the Nihal Nilaweera Trophy for another year.

The game was refereed by M. Naushad and A.C. Fernando, while the third official was Akalanka Ishan.
