MS, RW and MR
For nearly two decades, President Maithripala Sirisena (MS) and Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa (MR) were ruling the country but failed to achieve the objectives of economy and development of the country. The only exception is that MR brought peace to the country. Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe cannot be expected to do wonders within 3 1/2 years. This is why any leader is given a specific time frame in the constitution while citizens await results.
Previously, MR was accused of each and every failure and in this govt, it is only the Premier RW taking the blame. Where does the President stand in all this?
Therefore the MS-RW duo had to find solutions for the economic crisis of the country in the most appropriate manner. We have been observing that from day-one of the current government (Yahapalanaya), MR and his team were talking of toppling the government without offering any assistance or remedial solutions for the economic crisis of the motherland. Some prominent instances such as the introduction of free ambulance services as well as the FTA with Singapore, which the current government is trying to accept are noteworthy.
Previously, MR was accused of each and every failure and in this govt, it is only the Premier RW taking the blame. Where does the President stand in all this? Where are the leadership qualities and what is the outcome from a President we, the citizens are expecting? Being the leader of the country and the armed forces, the President is frightened of suspicious death threats. If this is the situation, how can the citizens expect protection from him who is unable to protect himself? Not only leaders, even ordinary citizens are facing death threats and conspiracies.
Even an ordinary employee or worker cannot be replaced in a secret manner. According to the President, he was not allowed to perform his duties during the previous government as a even Minister. It is therefore obvious that MS is totally lacking leadership qualities as a President. I feel that is why he was not criticized.
The majority of UNP MPS who have not moved for money or posts which they were offered are still in a position to prove that they are with integrity and quality in the government except for a handful.
