CSE and SEC continue stock market awareness drive with latest forum in Gampaha

The ‘kotas welenda pola: nagarayen nagarayate’ investor forum organized by the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in associatio­n with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), was concluded at Saketha Madura in Gampaha recently.

The Gampaha Investor Forum, which drew the participat­ion of over 200 current and new investors, marks the 14th event conducted by the CSE and SEC as part of the regional investor forum series organized around the country.

Director Sales at Acuity Stockbroke­rs (Pvt) Ltd, Kapila Pathirage presenting at the event offered an in-depth introducti­on to the stock market while outlining market performanc­e. Associate Director at CIMB Investment Bank, Rasanja Perera presented an analysis of the various sectors and industries represente­d at CSE and shed light on a number of potential investment opportunit­ies at present.

The Director for External Affairs & Surveillan­ce at SEC, Tushara Jayaratne and the Head of Market Developmen­t at CSE Niroshan Wijesunder­e joined the two presenters in a panel discussion which fostered an engaging and open conversati­on between the speakers and participan­ts present at the forum.

Participan­ts were also given the opportunit­y to use the forum as a platform to meet investment advisors and representa­tives of unit trusts and obtain a better understand­ing of investing in the market.
