Hi Kids,

Last week we learned about one of our favourite parts of the newspaper, the comic strip. We also learned about Editorial cartoons and why they are important. We hope you learned about the ways you can learn new things even from the comic strip and the editorial cartoons.

This week let’s look at another activity you can do with the newspaper.

DESCRIPTIVE WRITING

Do you know that your writing gets better when you include descriptions? This is called Descriptive Writing. But why is it important? Descriptive writing is to describe a person, place or thing in such a way that a picture is formed in the reader’s mind. Capturing a person or a place through descriptive writing involves paying close attention to the details. This means that you have to use all your five senses to think about what descriptions fit them best. Learning to write more descriptively will not only improve your writing but also make your writing, especially essays more interesting and engaging to read.
