Abducting and sexually abusing a schoolgirl
Sentenced to 17 years RI, to pay Rs. 300,000 to victim
An accused who was indicted with abducting and sexually abusing a schoolgirl under 16 years of age was found guilty and sentenced to 17 years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.15,000 by Moneragala High Court Judge Pradeep Abeyratne. He was ordered to pay Rs.300,000 to the victim as compensation.
The accused Wannaukuge Priyantha of Hambegamuwa had on June 02, 2013 abducted and sexually abused a girl of the area and he was indicted by the Attorney General on two counts.
The judge sentenced him to five years rigorous imprisonment under the first count and to 12 years rigorous imprisonment under the second count. State Counsel Gayana Perera prosecuted.
