-

The International Day of Climate Action fell on 28th October and for the purpose of celebrating this significant event, the ‘Manusath Derana’ has initiated a mega afforestation project with active participation of the business community and civil organizations in an effort to plant millions of trees throughout the island.

Bairaha Farms PLC being truly committed for the environment protection played a leading role to make this event a success by joining hands with ‘Manusath Derana’ in their mega afforestation project. Under the first afforestation project, Bairaha Farms has made arrangements to plant 1,000 Mahogany trees at the premises of all its Farms scattered across many districts.

As a mark of celebration of this event, we held a ceremony in our Breeder farm Pasyala on 29th October at 10.15 a.m.as the auspicious time to plant several trees with the participation of the Director Operation M. I. Wahid, Head of Human Resources Naveen De Silva, Group Manager (Personnel & Admin) S.P. Kumaradasa, Head of Hatchery S.K. Somarathna and Farm Manager of Breeder Farm Pasyala Chaminda Sampath of Bairaha Farms PLC together with the staff and employees and also the officers in ‘Manusath Derana Team’ which provided the media coverage.

The Bairaha management which many years ago took the initiative in planting more than 4,000 teak plants in its lands was more than delighted to undertake another tree planting project in its lands in collaboration with the ‘Manusath Derana Team’.
