Husband hacks wife to death
A woman who was selling flowers near the Kalutara Bodhi was hacked to death by her husband on Saturday evening.
The deceased had been identified as 43-year-old Wasantha Malani Silva of Jayanthipura, Kitulawa in Kalutara.
When she was selling flowers on the wayside of the Galle Road on Saturday evening, her husband armed with a machete had stormed the place and hacked her.
She was rushed to Nagoda Hospital but pronounced dead upon admission.
The man had surrendered to Kalutara South Police and the motive behind the killing was suspected to be a clandestine affair of his wife.
