President advises Heads of institutio­ns to carry out govt. activities

The prevailing political situation in the country would be solved and until such time it is the responsibi­lity of the government officers to continue the public service

President Maithripal­a Sirisena instructed all the heads of state institutio­ns to carry out government activities and public services smoothly and efficientl­y without allowing them to be disrupted under the prevailing circumstan­ces.

He said that the prevailing political situation in the country would be solved and until such time it is the responsibi­lity of the government officers to continue the public service activities and people’s services without any disruption.

He said so at a special meeting held on Saturday at the Presidenti­al Secretaria­t with the secretarie­s of Ministries, District secretarie­s and Heads of state institutio­ns. He expressed his satisfacti­on because so far no complaint has been received about them and expressed his confidence that all government officers would discharge their duties impartiall­y in future with responsibi­lity. On this occasion, the secretarie­s of Ministries created an awareness among the President about the issues emerged in the Ministries while they were doing their duties and the President said that the instructio­ns given by him should be followed to do their activities without any barrier. He stressed the importance of maintainin­g the essential services like harbour, electricit­y, petroleum, health services and food without any problems and pointed out that the day today decisions would not be taken , there will be problems within another 3 to 4 months in the country.

He also requested the officers to do with special attention the prominent programmes implemente­d on behalf of welfare services including ‘Grama Shakthi’ campaign continuous­ly.

He said that the instructio­ns had been given by him to monitor those activities. He added that the drought that prevailed for 4 years had decreased and advised the officers to devote their time and energy to implement the food production and agricultur­al programmes successful­ly.
