Worlds End - Special programme for protection
The Horton Plains National Park will implement a special programme to protect local and foreign tourists who visit World’s End tourist destination situated within the national park.
Warden of the Horton Plains National Park, Pradeep Kumara said the Wild Life Department has paid its attention with the instructions of the Wild Life Director General and the Assistant Wild Life Director General in the Central Province due to the death of a female German tourist who fell down from World’s End while she tried to take a selfie.
According to him, steps would be taken to exhibit notice boards in several languages showing the dangerous situation of World’s End and to keep a wild life officer in the observation centre. The tourist guides have been instructed to accompany the tourist while visiting the place. In addition, a leaflet giving instructions to teachers who come with school children for their protection when they visit this place.
The park warden added that attention has been drawn to construct a protective net close to the place from where the German woman had fallen.
