Marking 200th anniversary of country’s 1st war of Independence

A series of events have been organized by the Guitar Association of Sri Lanka, the Public Library, Colombo7, Kandurata Monarawila Keppetipola Commemorative committee in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the 1818 Uva-wellassa resistance – the heroic legacy which is still instilled in the minds of people.

A series of discussions have been organized in Colombo, Kandy and Galle at the following venues in connection with the celebrations.

23rd Nov 2018 - Public library, Colombo at 3 pm , 24th Nov 2018 - Sri Pushpadana Hall , Kandy at 2 pm 25th Nov 2018 International Buddhist Centre, Galle at 10 am. A concert comprising Dance, Drama and music will be held on November 25 at the Vihara Maha Devi Park open air theatre, from 5 pm onwards. Many leading artistes will perform and among them are Victor Hara music band of Kandy, Ernest & the Evergreens , Sarath Fernando , Mohomed Iqbal , Rohan Silva, Rohana Beddage and many more. An Angampora session , which is an ancient martial art from of Sri Lanka will take place to keep the crowd entertained. Entrance is free.
