40 selected for Asian Youth Netball Pool
The Sri Lanka Netball Federation has selected a 40 member pool for the Asian Youth Netball Championships 2019 to be held in Japan from June 30 to July 7.
The Netball Nationals will take place from November
28, 29 and 30 from which outstanding under 21 players will be selected to the youth pool.
The selected players to the pool will undergo residential training from the first week of January 2019.
Applications have been called for a youth netball coach. Currently six coaches have sent applications and only three came for the interview. The Interview Board will select the best coach and her name will be put for Sports Ministry approval.
Sri Lanka has won the Asian Youth Netball Championships on three occasions. They were in 1998, 2002 and 2015.
The last edition took place in South Korea last year where Sri Lanka bagged the fourth place. Singapore emerged champions. Runners-up were Malaysia and third place by Hong Kong.
The champion and runner-up at 2019 Asian Youth Netball will qualify for the 2021 World Youth Netball Championships.
