Chandula articulates corporate social transformation to Asian bankers
The 35th Asian Bankers Association (ABA) General Meeting and Conference titled ‘Banking in Asia -The Next Frontier’ was held in the Maldives Islands from November 15 to 16.
The Asian Bankers Association serves as a forum for advancing the cause of the banking and finance industry in the region and promoting the regional economic corporation. The well attended conference for 2018 with delegates from all the leading Asian banks and their CEO’S was locally hosted by the Bank of Maldives .
Chandula Abeywickrama who was one of the key speakers of the opening day ‘Discover ABA’ , presented a strategy to bankers to move beyond the past of Corporate Social Responsibility , and present status of corporate social sustainability to corporate social transformation.
He articulated to move beyond the past advocacy of the triple bottom line approach for corporate, planet , people, profit to adopting the quadruple bottom line, planet , people , profit and progress.
He stressed that if the profit earned from planet and people is not used for the progress of the planet and the people, there is no sustainability for the people , planet and the corporates.
Chandula recommended to the Asian bankers as a strategy move in to creation of social entrepreneur ecosystem and impact investing landscape to bring grater social transformation to their respective economies .
Chandula’s strategic presentation was very well received by the all the delegates as very timely and very pragmatically strategic to adopt in the current global context .
