VASANTHA SANDANAYAKE

The 18th death anniversary of celebrated yesteryear songstress Vasantha Sandanayake falls on November 24. Among the hundreds of her hits were Dola Langa Guru Para Dige, Kalyani Ganga Rajini, Nokiyama Eda, Sakya Maha, Akka Tikak Innako and others. The late songstress is had sung a large number of memorable songs on Buddhist-themes and patriotic sentiments from the 1930s. Most of the songs sung by Vasantha Sandanayake had been penned by Mervyn Senaratne.
