No porn and social media web sites for councillors: WPC
Should’ve listened to the Budget speech SLT told to block the sites
Access to pornographic and social media websites have been blocked on the computers in the Chamber of the Western Provincial Council (WPC) after some councillors were found to have been watching porn during the Budget speech, Chief Minister Isura Devapriya said yesterday.
He said he had instructed WP Chief Secretary to conduct an investigation on this matter.
“It is to be regretted if such incidents had taken place, especially during the budget speech. Computers have not been provided to watch social media or to watch films. These facilities are for council work. I have instructed the chief secretary to obtain a report from the relevant institutions which can provide such information,” the CM said.
He said he had earlier informed Sri Lanka Telecom which is the service provider for the computer devices, to block social media and other unnecessary web sites from the computers in the Chamber.
“The SLT is at fault if it had not blocked these sites even after I instructed them to do so,” the CM said.
