Three treasure hunters nabbed

Three men, who were excavating land in the Kolongoda area in Wileyaya in search of buried treasure, were taken into custody by the Hasalaka Police early on Monday morning.

The police on a tip-off raided the remote spot in the Wileyaya area and caught the suspects red-handed while they were digging for treasure.

The arrested suspects who were aged 20, 44 and 49 were from the Negombo and Kolongoda areas.

The police also seized digging utensils, religious offerings and battery lamps from the crime scene.
