UNP MP Dr Harsha De Silva said everything which his party and the civil movements were doing was not aimed at inconveniencing the people.
“We have handed over a motion to cut the Expenditure Head of newly appointed Prime Minister and that was also a token to prove and show the country that the present Government is functioning in an illegal manner,” he said.“these motions will not stop the payment of salaries in the State Sector nor they would stop the payment of Samurdhi,” he said. MP Daya Gamage said it was high time that a legal Government was installed in the county.“sri Lanka has already been hit by economic blows with 30 percent of the tourist bookings being cancelled and with the new administration deciding to print currency worth Rs 100 billion.
“Printing currency alone will result in diminishing the value of the five thousand rupee or thousand rupee bills in the wallets of the people,” he said. Ven. Dhambara Amila Thera and Head of the National Movement for Just Society Professor Sarath Wijesuriya who also participated in the Sathya Graha said their effort was to see that decisions were made in accordance with the Constitution.
