Illicit liqour den raided in Kallanchiya

A stock of 215 bottles of illicit liqour and distilling equipment were seized and a suspect arrested during a raid on an illegal brewery in Labuwewa in Kallanchiya by Mihintale police. Under interrogation the woman who was arrested on suspicion stated that the street value of the stock of illicit liqour costs around more than Rs.215,000. Police said the suspect woman had seven cases against her pending in Anuradhapura magistrate’s court in connection with similar incidents. Investigations revealed that she was mother of four children living in separation from her husband and that two of her sons were military personnel.the suspect and the stock of illicit liqour were to be produced before the Anuradhapura magistrate.
