-

The first-year undergraduates of the Colombo University Faculty of Management and Finance constructed an outdoor classroom and renovated the water supply system for the Katandola Kanishta Vidyalaya in the Elpitiya Educational Zone under their community development project “Nenalu Kirulata Alokayak’’.

The outdoor classroom constructed at a cost of Rs.270,000 was declared open on November 7. The school provides education to 237 students with 21 staff members and is in need of basic infrastructure facilities.

The undergraduates expressed their gratitude to Principal A.P.P.R. Pushpakumara for allowing them to carry out the project.

As a means of raising funds for the project, the undergraduates organised various programmes including a musical show at the university premises, the sale of stickers, a food stall and through donations. Constructions were done by the team members led by M. Ruvinda Cooray. Students of the school and the parents supported the team in preparing the compound.
