IP Rangajeewa reinstated

Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) Inspector Neomal Rangajeewa, who was granted bail by the Court of Appeal after being arrested in connection with the 2012 Welikada prison riot and the killing of 27 inmates, was reinstated on Wednesday.

Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said he was reinstated in his previous position at the PNB by IGP Pujith Jayasundara as per the provisions of the Establishments Code.

IP Rangajeewa had filed an appeal at the ‘IGP Help Desk’ that he be reinstated. He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on March 29 this year and granted bail on October 29.
