Methemphetamine worth Rs. 3.6 mn netted at BIA

A 52-year Sri Lankan was arrested for possessing at 300 grams of Methemphetamine (Ice) valued more than Rs. 3.6 million by the Officers of Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) attached to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). Police said the suspect, a resident of Wellampitiya, had arrived in the country from Chennai,via India on Wednesday night.

The police recovered Methemphetamine while it was hidden under his underwear. Investigation revealed that the suspect was arrested last year as well whilst bringing 1200 cigarettes illegally into the country at BIA. The suspect was produced before Negombo Magistrate to obtain seven days detention order for further investigations.
