The President is in a dilemma

-

Gloom suddenly fell on this country on 28 October 28, 2018 when the people were watching the evening news on TV channels. Suddenly the news was interrupted by ‘BREAKING NEWS’ which announced that the President had sacked the Prime Minister and prorogued Parliament and ordered the Elections Commissioner to have General Elections in January 2020.The shock was so great that the public couldn’t believe whether this was a joke. This announcement was followed by the President appearing on TV saying he was displeased with the Prime Minister and his Government and had decided on an immediate change of Prime Minister and his Government; giving reasons for the change in a long speech.

Of course some undesirable party politicians had secret talks with the President to patch up the strained relationship between him and former President Rajapaksa whom he ignobly defeated at the last President Elections and whom he feared saying he was the grave digger who would have buried him under six feet if he failed to win the election. People couldn’t believe this unconstitutional announcement and now the country is in turmoil.

The President is in a dilemma and is reciting the mantra to invoke the devil, but not knowing how to get rid of it. He thought by saying “Thalak Thalak Thalak” he could divorce his PM in a jiffy. What a mess he has put the country in.

President Sirisena was a staunch SLFP leader all his life, but now all supporters are abandoning the SLFP and clamouring for the ‘Pohottuw’a membership.that would be the end of SLFP.THE ‘Black flag with ‘RIP’ printed in white will fly at the funeral of the SLFP.

There is hope that there are still faithful staunch SLFP supporters who would rally round the beautiful blue flag under a new leader and save their much respected party; sacking the vermin who are like ‘lizards’ changing colour all the time for their benefit and jumping from one side to the other for power and ministerial posts in the Parliament.

Rajapaksa is a veteran and well- respected politician who has done much for the country. He knows the UNP and its coalition partners are a formidable lot. He realises just because the President didn’t like his Prime Minister and handing the Government to him unconstitutionally is not fair and bad for the country.as a gentleman he should have rejected the offer and advised the President to wait till the end of next year and have the Presidential and General Elections as he has a good chance of his party winning. He should also have request his party stalwarts to have patience for there is victory in the waiting at the next elections.
