Rasindu, a resident of Mahahena Watta in Naimbala in Thihagoda, died after receiving stab wounds in a street fight that started as a result of an altercation a youth had with his younger brother. Rasindu’s mother, Nelum Kumari (42), was seen weeping for her son at their residence at Elawella road in Matara.“my son said to me “Mummy, I will become a doctor one day and help our whole family.you will not have to suffer any more after that. We have to make my brother a software engineer. What did they do to my precious son. They could have cut off his hand or leg if they had a quarrel with him. Why did they kill my dear son?” Rasindu’s father was a machine operator at a company in the Pamburana area in Matara, named Jayawickrama Arachchige Chandana Pushpakumara (43). He had four children. The youngest brother Miyuru Himalka (16) studies in grade 11 of Naimbala Maha Vidyalaya and would be sitting the O/L/ exam next month. It was as a result of a altercation with someone who had a problem with his youngest brother that started over a girl that Rasindu lost his life after a heated exchange of words which ended in him being knifed to death.
