Lunugamwehera reservoir spilling over after three years

Irrigation Engineer Amila Shirantha of Tissamaharama said that the all spill gates of Lunugamwehera reservoir have been opened due to the increasing of water level due to the torrential rain prevailing in upper part of Kirindi Oya, this is after a lapse of three years.

Six spill gates of the reservoir have been opened by the 22nd of this month and the balance spill gates were opened on the 25th.

The spill gates were previously opened in December, 2015.

Therefore, the Irrigation Engineer further said that the residents who are living down stream should be vigilant.
