Sri Lanka Press Association 63rd Anniversary Veteran Journalists Awards tomorrow
The Sri Lanka Press Association (SLPA), the oldest Media association in the country, will hold its 63rd Anniversary Convention at the Sri Lanka Foundation Auditorium at 3.00pm on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, under the aegis of Deputy High Commissioner of India, Dr. Shilpak N. Ambule.
The SLPA, an umbrella for all professionals in the field of print and electronic media was founded by erudite scholar, Ven. Udakendawala Siri Saranankara Thera and veteran Journalists, late D. F. Kariyakarawana and Hema de Silva way back on October 9, 1955.
Ten veteran journalists who have rendered a yeoman service to the field of journalism will be felicitated with the D. F. Kariyakarawana Memorial Award at this function.
The veterans who will be felicitated are (Top from left) Kala Keerthi Edwin Ariyadasa, Seetha Ranjani, S. Thillainathan, Furkhan B. Iftikar, Buddhika Kurukularatne, (Bottom from left) Sarath Malalasekara, M. Z. M. Zarook, Sumana Nellampitiya, K. Rupasinghe and Denagama Siriwardena.
The event will be graced by the heads of media as well as foreign journalist delegations from India, Pakistan, Nepal and Russia.
