The victim, who was a resident of Mahahenawatte, Naimbala, was preparing for the GCE (A/L) Examination to be held next year. He was assaulted when he was on his way to the private class with two of his friends. A friend of the deceased was also injured and was admitted to the Matara General Hospital for treatment. The student who stabbed him and his two friends are studying in two leading schools in the Matara Town.

According to the Police, the dispute was that the brother of the deceased had argued with the girlfriend of one of the suspects at the private class a few months ago.

The deceased had informed the suspect not to harass his brother anymore as his brother had been slapped and was threatened several times before.

Police said another suspect involved with the incident, is also to be arrested.
