Govt. to present VOA in Parliament to allocate Rs. 1735 bn

Rs. 760 billion to maintain Government’s public services Rs. 970 billion for expenditur­e already authorized Rs. 5 for Advance Account

Cabinet approval had been granted to present the Vote on Account in Parliament to allocate Rs. 1,735 billion for the first four months until a budget was presented, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Mahinda Samarasing­he said yesterday.

He told the weekly Cabinet briefing that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Finance Minister had submitted the Vote on Account for Cabinet approval and had been approved.

He said the expected allocation of funds included Rs. 760 billion to maintain Government’s public services, Rs. 970 billion for expenditur­e which had already been authorized, Rs. 5 billion for Government’s Advance Account.
