Journalist covering CDS case attacked: Navy Petty Officer arrested

A Petty Officer of the Navy had been arrested by the Slave Island Police in connection with an alleged attack on a photojournalist, who was at the Fort Magistrate’s Court premises yesterday to cover the case in which Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Ravindra Wijegunaratne was involved in, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.
He said the incident was reported to have taken when the CDS was coming out of the Court complex for the second hearing last evening.the journalist had lodged a complaint with the Slave Island Police.
However, the Police said the suspect would be released as the journalist agreed to settle the matter.
