Cambrians begin campaign on winning note

A matchbag of nine wickets by Sasindu Fernando helped Prince of Wales College record a four-wicket outright win against Maris Stella College in their Under-13 Inter-schools Cricket Tournament secondroun­d opening fixture played at Moratuwa yesterday.

Meanwhile, an unbeaten century by Lahiru Amaraseker­a enabled President’s College, Kotte to record an easy first innings win over Asoka MV, Colombo in their match played at Padukka.

At Moratuwa (Prince of Wales won by four wickets)

Maris Stella: 59 (Achala Perera 5/17, Sasindu Fernando 2/5, Yenula Dewthuka 2/16) and 58 (Sonal Nethmina 32 n.o, Sasindu Fernando 7/35, Yenula Dewthuka 3/21)
