“The social stigma is that females shouldn’t be in magic. This is why you don’t see assistants in the first place. But we have hopes. One of the challenges we face right now is considering magic as a profession. People still think that you cannot earn from it but if you look at the events that happen around Sri Lanka and the corporate investments, if you are a good performer and if you raise your mark up to that, you will have enough business. We want people to realise that magic is a good form of entertainment. Secondly we need to get more magicians into the industry itself. This is why we are trying to initiate an academy. Another challenge is to get the right budgets. We are trying to get international magic lecturers to come down to Sri Lanka or do online programmes for us.”
