Keep adequate stocks of fertiliser for Maha Season: Amaraweera to officials
Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera instructed officials not to allow a shortage of fertilizer for paddy cultivation during the Maha Season .
A progress review meeting on issuing fertilizer for 800,000 hectares of paddy to be cultivated during the Maha Season was held under the chairmanship of Minister Amaraweera at the Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday (29) evening.
Officials of the Fertilizer Secretariat told the minister that steps had already been taken to issue adequate stocks of fertilizer as requested by Agrarian Development Centres. The minister pointed out that the farmers in several areas had been affected by rain and that steps should be taken to provide them with adequate facilities to purchase fertilizer without any obstacles.
