Life imprisonment sentence for heroin peddler

A suspect who was found guilty of peddling and trafficking heroin was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Colombo High Court yesterday.

High Court Judge Sashi Mahendran sentenced the suspect to life imprisonment after acknowledging that the charges against the convict were proven beyond reasonable doubt by the prosecution. The convict was accused of trafficking 2.5 grammes of heroin at Orugodawatte, Grandpass on May 12, 2014. He was indicted by the Attorney General under two charges of trafficking and peddling heroin.
