Retired soldier arrested with 3 counterfeit Rs. 500 notes

A retired soldier, who had three counterfeit currency notes of Rs.500 denomination in his possession, was arrested by the Polonnaruwa police yesterday afternoon.

The 45-year-old suspect was a resident of Mahasenpura in Polonnaruwa. Police said he was being questioned how he came to be in possession of the counterfeit notes. He however feigned innocence and stated that he had received it during a normal monetary transaction.
