War heroes of First World War
The Governor of the Central Province P.B. Dissanayake laid a wreath at the “War Memorial” erected in 1918 - one hundred years ago after the First World War, in memory of nearly 20 million people who died during the period 1914 to 1918, to save the
British Empire.
The ceremony was organised by the Ex-servicemen’s Association in Kandy by Brigadier Athula Jayasinghe
Among the others who laid wreaths were servicemen of the Tri-forces, Mayor of Kandy Kesara Senanayake and Police Chiefs.
The Army Band of the Sinha Regiment was in attendance and a Guard-of-honour was presented by the security forces and the Police.
