Grade 10 students bring knives apparently to harm seniors in Uhana

The Uhana Police said that three Grade 10 students of a government school in Uhana area were detained for questionin­g because they had brought knives concealed in their school bags to the school.

A police officer said that these students had brought these weapons apparently to harm several Grade 11 students over some dispute. After questionin­g, they had confessed that the weapons had been made out of a discarded chainsaw.

On a tip-off, the Principal of the school had checked the bags of these students and weapons were recovered from their bags. The principal had informed the OIC of Uhana Police, IP L.d.n.ka run a rat na. These students had been brought to the police station from the school for the inquiry and they were released on bail as they were scheduled to sit G.C.E.(O/L) examinatio­n today, the Police officer said. The principal said that he would initiate a disciplina­ry inquiry against the students.
