TISSL tour to Lucknow

The journey to Lucknow was not a single story, but a multifacet­ed story with myriad toils as its milestones. Since 2010, even before the inception of official TISSL, a combined cricket team of various age groups were formed from these same schools of TISSL. Sajith Liyanage a well known Roayalist had been instrument­al in initiating these matches.

After the formation of TISSL they played in the Clash of Lions 2015, a triangular series between Royal Netherland­s team, American College and TISSL cricket team.the tournament was held at the University Grounds, Colombo on 5th December 2015. The TISSL team won their initial match against Netherland­s by a single RUN.TISSL beat American College by 8 wickets to clinch the trophy.

The TISSL team later took part in the Murali Cup 2014 and 2015 held in Jaffna and Killinochc­hi Districts.the team performed exceptiona­lly well but fell short of clinching titles. Their performanc­e paved the way for Internatio­nal Schools to be allowed to participat­e in Sri Lanka Schools cricket Tournament­s.

The team touring Lucknow: Salman Akbarally British School in Colombo from 2011 to 2018. Captain of the TISSL team.a right handed batsman, bowls off spin and is the stand by wicket-keeper. His highest score of 119 came against Regent Internatio­nal School.

Umash De Zoysa. Leeds Internatio­nal School, Panadura. Vice captain.a right handed batsman and a right arm fast bowler.

Krishan Shriram. Stafford Internatio­nal. He is a lefthanded batsman and has the rare gift of being able to bowl with both hands. His best bowling performanc­e was against the Banglore Cricket Academy in Banglore 2017. Currently he is playing for C.C.C .

Pradyun Saikia. British School in Colombo. A left hand opening

batsman and a right arm bowler.

Rahul Chigullapa­lli. captained the under 13 and 15 teams of the British School of Colombo. He is a left hand opening batsman and the wicket keeper.

Akmal Hassan. From Colombo Internatio­nal School Colombo.a right arm off spinner and righthand batsman.

Kavindu Warnakulas­uriya. Gateway College and entered the finals in the TISSL tournament.

Kavinda Subasingha. British School in Colombo

He is a left hand batsman, Ranidu Samarasing­ha. Gateway College, Colombo.a stylish left handed top order batsman.

Sampras De Silva. Stafford Internatio­nal School.

Raveen Nanayakkar­a, makes

the team as a left hand top order batsman and a right arm off spin bowler. He hails from Colombo Internatio­nal School.

Avesh Polonowita. Stafford Internatio­nal School. He is a right handed batsman and right arm medium fast bowler.

Kaveen Ruwanpura. Leeds Internatio­nal School.

Kinura Dias. Leeds Internatio­nal School, Galle.

The team will be accompanie­d by, Gladwin Canagasabe­y, Principal Gateway College, Kandy (Chaperon), Sajith Liyanage, Manager Sports Complex Gateway College, Colombo (Manager), Jude Fernando, Director Sports, Leeds Internatio­nal Schools (Coach),quintus De Zilva, Deputy Principal and Head of Sports Alethea School (Coach).
