Taibu to play First-class matches in SL

- BY BIPIN DANI

Former Zimbabwe wicket-keeper and Captain Tatenda Taibu is all set to make his comeback into First-class cricket.

The 35-year-old will arrive in Sri Lanka today (3) to represent Badureliya CC in the SLC Premier Tier ‘A’ Cricket Tournament.

“I signed with Baduraliya CC. They had advertised to have an overseas player and I immediately applied. I was in communication with Roshan Abeysinghe who is an administrator,” Taibu said yesterday.

It is yet another interesting twist in the life of Taibu, who quit international cricket in 2012 aged just 29, to focus only on church work in England, where he lives most part of the year.

Taibu holds the world record of being the youngest Test Captain (20 years-358 days) when he led his side against Sri Lanka in Harare in 2004.

“I would like to keep wickets in this entire season for the club but it will be up to my captain to utilise my services,” he signed off.
