IF I BECOME THE PRESIDENT OF SRI LANKA

- (An essay written by Binadie Ratnayake three years ago, in 2015)

If I become the President of Sri Lanka, I will see to all citizens and check if they are leading good lives. I will see if all the roads are built smoothly in a way that people can drive vehicles easily. There are many other things I would do. It would be a great experience to live in the President’s shoes, but more than looking or feeling good, I think it is more important to look into the matters of the country and its people. I would build many buildings and schools and be kind to anyone in need. I would never allow people to harm animals and will keep them safely in a place which is protective. I would also donate money and clothes to the unfortunate humans in Sri Lanka. And I would be very tough with thieves who steal things valuable and important to everyone. I would also build many hospitals, temples and other places to worship. I would be aware of everything going on. And if people live in dangerous places like where landslides could occur easily, I would tell them to move immediately. If there are animals in the middle of the road, I will put up a sign saying, ‘Beware, animals could cross.’ I would be extremely concerned about the road safety while driving vehicles on mountains and other dangerous places and put up signs to warn the drivers. I would ask the citizens to plant many trees and protect the environment. I would especially build swimming pools, pavements, lamp posts and other useful things needed for everyone in the society to enjoy. I would let accident happen very rarely and open new schools and protect the children who will be the the future of our country. I would be a generous and honest person and do everything equally for everyone. I would always think positive and never let Sri Lanka down and be a good President in our country. I would love and protect everything and everyone and be the best President ever.
