Anuka, Janindu puts Sri Sumangala on top

A four-wicket haul by Anuka Jayasinghe and a half-ton by Janindu Induwara, who was unfortunat­e to miss out on a ton, helped Sri Sumangala Panadura to come out on top against Henegama Central in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Panadura.

Anuka’s four wickets enabled Sri Sumangala to bowl out their opponents for a low score of 83 and Janindu’s knock saw Sri Sumangala in reply making a score of 183 for 8 declared.

Henegama Central batting the second with a deficit of 100 runs ended the day struggling on 15 for 4. The match will be continued today.

At Panadura Henegama Central 83 (Isuru Dhananjaya 26: Anuka Jayasinghe 4 for 16, Vishwa Kumara 3 for 17, Janindu Induwara 2 for 22) and 15 for 4 (Vishwa Kumara 2 for 6, Anuka Jayasinghe 2 for 6)

Sri Sumangala Panadura 183 for 8 declared (Janindu Induwara 88, Sasindu de Silva 41, Tharana de Silva 27: Samith Wijenayake 7 for 56)
