President-unf talks end with no result
President insists Ranil won’t be made PM
Talks between President Maithirpala Sirisena and UNF had ended inconclusively last night with the former reiterating he was not willing to make UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe the Prime Minister.
UNP MP Lakshman Kirella told journalists that the President informed them that he was not even willing to appoint Mr.wickremesing he as the Prime Minister even if all 225 MPS in Parliament tells him to do so.
Another member of the UNF delegation who met the President told the Daily Mirror that Mr. Sirisena agreed to go through the decision given by the Appeal Court suspending the appointment of MP Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister and the cabinet.
Also sources said the UNF was likely to meet President again today.
UNP Spokesman Harin Fernando who spoke to the Daily Mirror said his party still believed that there would be a positive end to the political crisis soon.
Meanwhile it was also reported that the President had told the TNA that he would take a decision within 24 hours.
