Went to him with a problem, but had to return with a conundrum!
Agroup of close confidantes of the Pohottuwa chief who was highly concerned over the successive political developments, called on him the other day to find out how he had sized up the situation.
“Sir, what is happening?” they asked.
“What are you speaking about?” the chief asked a counterquestion.
Explaining their growing concern about the fast-developing uncertain situation, they asked: “Sir, isn’t it obvious that we are going to suffer a defeat in Parliament?”
The chief smiled and replied easily: “I too welcome a defeat!”
They all looked askance at him wide-eyed. “There’s a blessing in disguise in such a defeat!” the chief added.
They all wanted to know the card up his sleeve, but he avoided making any reference to his plans. He continued: “You had better closely followed the developments that are going to unfold hereafter! None will have any inkling of the surprises Number One and I are going to spring on the country soon!”
The group left the place more perplexed than they were prior to meeting their chief, they say.
