Decision on bus fare revision after Dec.21: NTC Chairman
The reduction of bus fares would be considered after calling an overall cost report of a private bus on December 21, The National Transport Commission (NTC) Chairman M. A. P. Hemachandra said.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror he said the meeting was held at NTC yesterday as scheduled by the private bus associations.
During the meeting all the associations had requested the NTC chairman to call an overall cost of a private bus including a price list of other essentials such as the costs of tyres, spare parts and lubricants.
“The bus associations claimed that the cost of a bus had been increased between Rs.800,000 and Rs.900,000 due to the devaluation of the Rupee against the USD. The costs of tyres, spare parts and lubricants had been increased,” the NTC Chairman said.
Therefore, the members decided to have another meeting on December 21 to discuss the capability of bus fare reduction after considering the overall cost, he said.
