Specialist doctor assaults fellow doctor

A doctor attached to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital was hospitalized after a specialist doctor had allegedly assaulted him at the hospital premises over a dispute related to their vehicle parking.

Police said the assaulted doctor was admitted to the Emergency Treatment Unit of the hospital following the attack.

They said the specialist doctor had also been admitted to the hospital after lodging a complaint with the Galle Police stating that he was also assaulted. The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) of the Galle Branch said that they had requested the Hospital director to take action against the specialist doctor.

It was reported that the specialist doctor and several other doctors of the hospital had clashed on several occasions earlier too over parking issues.
