Request for assistance to help save young life

Eleven-year-old schoolgirl Chalani Divumini Soysa of No.58 Fonseka Road, Panadura has been suffering from a heart ailment endangerin­g her life and she is required to undergo urgent surgery at the Institute of Cardiovasc­ular Diseases Unit of the Madras Medical Mission to save her life.

Her ailment has been diagnosed by the Head, Department of Paediatric Cardiology, Madras Medical Mission in Chennai Dr. K. Sivakumar as a case of TOF, severe infundibul­ar PS Confluent PA that required Intra Cardiac Repair to save her life. The deadline given for the surgery is December 15, 2018. Authoritie­s of the Madras Medical Mission have informed her father Nalaka Soysa that the medical examinatio­n and treatment that includes coronary angiogram would cost Rs. 205,000 ( Equal to US$ 2900) The medical expenses and the four return tickets for the family, their board and lodging and incidental expenses would amount to about Rs.1 million.

However, Chalani’s father Nalaka Soysa, a casual labourer and mother Gamage Mirinnamul­la, a garment worker who maintain the family with their meagre income are not in a position to meet the colossal expenditur­e involving the surgery and treatment at the Institute of Cardio- Vascular Unit, MMM in Chennai and expenses of air travel and their stay in Chennai.

Chalani’s parents request for public assistance to save their only daughter’s life.
