CLOUDZ RESORT
LIFE ON THE CLOUDS IN A RUSTIC SETTING
Sigiriya has now become a highly congested tourist destination. Hundreds of star class hotels have come up within the visual range of Sigiriya rock and Pidurangala, chasing the traditional wildlife into deeper jungles. A decade ago, Kimbissa, Ehalagala, Inamaluwa, Digampathana and Avudangawa were typical elephant roaming jungles. But Rangirigama though is almost five kms away from the Sigiriya rock and still attracts tourists mainly because of its still preserved natural and rural calmness.
Conveniently located within the Cultural Triangle but away from the hustle and bustle of the tourism zone of Sigiriya area, Cloudz Resort is the newest addition to the remote village of Rangirigama. Built on a privately owned well spreadout eco friendly designed one acre of land, just five kilometres away from the ‘eighth wonder', Cloudz Resort is completely a revamped old hotel project. ‘The original structure was built sometime
back and the property has been acquired by the present Cloudz Hotel Management in March 2017. The hotel has gone through a fully refurbished programme under the new management and added a new swimming pool, modern kitchen and a spa to its facilities', said Lakshman Chandrasekera, the General Manager of the Cloudz Resort.
The Resort offers an open area with lush green and plenty of space for guests to enjoy their holiday in a very tranquil environment. It speaks of a very ‘back to nature' concept with cottage style thatched roofed accommodation.
The reception, restaurant, kitchen and the rest too are authentically built with thatched roofs and eco friendly materials.
All 20 rooms at Cloudz Resort, Sigiriya are an ideal blend of nature and culture, without foregoing the comforts of a luxury setting in this unique location. All Deluxe, standard and family rooms offer A/c, mosquito net, tea/coffee making facilities and all other amenities attached to the open bathrooms. The rooms have a contemporary, yet ‘local' feel, with a blend of earth-coloured walls and windows with magnificent views of the jungle and the garden.
‘The resort has two non a/c rooms with open ventilation. These seem to be very popular with foreign tourists. The rustic look, tranquility and traditional way of life attract most of the guests and nature lovers' said Ravini Marambe, the Manager S/ Marketing of Cloudz Hospitality. Cloudz Resort offers its guests a traditional Sri Lankan meal at the authentically built restaurant that is ideally located in the centre of the resort. Guests visiting the Resort can enjoy authentic Sri Lankan mouth watering breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by chef Manjula.
‘‘The personalised service is the most outstanding, among string of facilities we offer to our guests. Apart from the Sri Lankan favourites, we are capable of catering to any request from our guests. The commitment of our staff has been incredible' said GM Lakshman.
Cloudz Resort stands amidst woodland gardens, home to different bird species, which makes this hotel an ideal base for bird watching. Apart from the traditional jungle trekking and a bird trail, an array of recreational activities broadens the possibilities for local discovery with cycle rides, Village walks and Sigiriya hikes. Adventurous travellers can explore nearby historical sites-Pidurangala, Ritigala, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, and of course Sigiriya. Experience the guided safari tours to Minneriya, Kaudulla, Huruluwewa Eco Park and nature treks.
‘We offer special holiday packages to Sri Lankan clientele during the holiday season till 31st December' said Ravini Marambe. ‘At Cloudz, we have built an organic garden with in the resort, growing fruits, vegetables, spices and Ayurvedic herbs for our restaurants. The resort grows these vegetables without chemicals by feeding them with natural nutrients and bio extract' Lakshaman added.
