Vi­jeyakala’s case fixed for Feb 22.

Colombo Chief Mag­is­trate Lanka Ja­yaratna yesterday post­poned for Fe­bru­ary 22 the case in which MP Vi­jeyakala Ma­h­eswaran is charged with mak­ing state­ments sup­port­ive of the LTTE at a meet­ing held in Jaffna. The Or­ga­nized Crime In­ves­ti­ga­tion Bureau in­formed Court that the bureau had sought the At­tor­ney Gen­eral’s ad­vice on this mat­ter.

It was re­ported that State Minister of Child Af­fairs Vi­jeyakala Ma­h­eswaran had said at a State func­tion held in Jaffna that there was a huge need of re­or­ga­ni­za­tion of the LTTE in the North and East

July 03, 2018: State Minister of Child Af­fairs Vi­jeyakala Ma­h­eswaran said she had not made any state­ment with the in­ten­tion of bring­ing the LTTE back to life and said that it was a slip of the tongue.

July 03: UNP back benchers urged the party lead­er­ship to sus­pend State Minister Vi­jeyakala Ma­h­eswaran from her port­fo­lio and sus­pend her from the party.

July 05: State Minister Vi­jeyakala Ma­h­eswaran ten­dered her res­ig­na­tion let­ter.

Se­nior Coun­sel K.V. Thavarasa, in­structed by Gowry San­gari Thavarasa, ap­peared for Ms. Ma­h­eswaran.
