Women for Jus­tice calls for elec­tions

Women for jus­tice in a let­ter ad­dressed to Pres­i­dent Maithri­pala Sirisena had re­quested him to go for rel­e­vant elec­tions as soon as pos­si­ble.

“The best so­lu­tion to re­solve the cur­rent is­sue is to make use of rep­re­sen­ta­tive democ­racy and thereby go in for an elec­tion and let peo­ple make their choices,” the let­ter signed by Sher­mila Gon­awala, Pres­i­dent, Women for Jus­tice.

“We there­fore re­quest you to give an op­por­tu­nity for the peo­ple to par­tic­i­pate in the process of re­solv­ing the cur­rent cri­sis in ad­di­tion to Ex­ec­u­tive, Leg­is­la­ture and the Ju­di­ciary” , the let­ter added.

The let­ter also said that coun­try’s weak con­sti­tu­tion had cre­ated the cur­rent cri­sis.this sit­u­a­tion had en­abled many to come out with var­i­ous no­tions on the con­sti­tu­tion.“Peo­ple have be­gun to feel sus­pi­cious on the Ju­di­ciary as well in this sit­u­a­tion,” the let­ter fur­ther said.

Also the Women for Jus­tice had re­quested the Pres­i­dent to work to­wards de­feat­ing the forces who de­stroy coun­try’s val­ues,norms and tra­di­tions.
