Women for Justice calls for elections

Women for justice in a letter addressed to President Maithripal­a Sirisena had requested him to go for relevant elections as soon as possible.

“The best solution to resolve the current issue is to make use of representa­tive democracy and thereby go in for an election and let people make their choices,” the letter signed by Shermila Gonawala, President, Women for Justice.

“We therefore request you to give an opportunit­y for the people to participat­e in the process of resolving the current crisis in addition to Executive, Legislatur­e and the Judiciary” , the letter added.

The letter also said that country’s weak constituti­on had created the current crisis.this situation had enabled many to come out with various notions on the constituti­on.“People have begun to feel suspicious on the Judiciary as well in this situation,” the letter further said.

Also the Women for Justice had requested the President to work towards defeating the forces who destroy country’s values,norms and traditions.
