Protest held against Vavunathivu incident

Residents of Vavuniya engaged in a protest in front of the old bus stand in Vavuniya yesterday against the murder of two police constables in Vavunathivu, Batticaloa and requesting the authorities to take necessary steps to arrest the armed gangs in North and East and bring the situation under control.

Protestors requested the Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims to get together and prevent a recurrence of the Eelam War which the people in the North and Eastern Province suffered for over 30 years.
