Sabaragamuwa PC launches major tourism drive
The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council had launched a programme with the help of the Sabaragamuwa University, Provincial Tourism Ministry and local and foreign travel agents, Secretary to the Provincial Ministry of Tourism Chamara Bamunuarachchi said.
The gem industry in the Ratnapura District, Udawalawa Sanctuary, Wavulpane Lime Stone Caves with an underground stream, the existing tourist zones in Belihul Oya and Kitulgala, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, Dehiwela Zoological Gardens the traditional Sri Lankan village Apegama are all expected to be developed with enhanced infrastructure facilities for tourists in this programme,” Bamunuarachchi said.
The proposed development plan was taken up at a meeting at the Udawalawa Tourist Resort with the participation of officials of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Tourism Ministry, Sabaragamuwa University and agents of travel agencies both local and foreign.
